This is Teatret Vårt
Teatret
Vårt was established in 1972 as the second regional theatre company in
Norway. The name means "Our theatre", and the name was originally a
nickname the group of actors brought with them as they left the capital,
Oslo, and settled down in Molde, the administrative centre of the
county Möre og Romsdal. The official name, AS Regionteatret i Möre og
Romsdal, is not frequently used. Long ago has the nickname become the
real name. This underlines the fact that theatre always is depending on
personal commitment. Both audience and theatre makers shall share the
feeling of owning the theatre.
The aim has always been to provide a
quality repertory of contemporary and classical plays for children,
youngsters and adults. In 2005 the theatre has produced an adaption of
the classical novel by Tarjei Vesaas, "Is-slottet" ("The Ice Castle"),
the newly commissioned play by Björnar Teigen, "Ansiktet på Mars" ("The
Face on Mars"), the collective work "Hjemmeinnredning" ("Home Design")
and "Trollspeilet" (The Troll Mirror") by Carl Morten Amundsen. Teatret
Vårt also produced the classical comedy "Erasmus Montanus" by Ludvig
Holberg and "Ox & Esel" by Norbert Ebel . The theatre is planning a
production in connection with the Ibsen Centennial called "Havfruens
sønn" ( "The Son of the Mermaid") by Kristian Lykkeslet Strømskag, an
adaptation of the children´s classic "Fru Pigalopp" and a brand new play
by Bjørnar Teigen called "Lukten av grønt gress" ("The Smell of Green
Grass"). In the summer of 2006 Teatret Vårt will host the
MagicNet-production "The Ship of Hope" after a novel by Franz Kafka. Teatret
Vårt has between 7 and 10 actors and the permanent staff of technicians
and administration counts around 20 persons. Teatret Vårt does
extensive touring in the county of Möre og Romsdal. It gives around 300
performances per year for appr. 35 000 spectators.
